Our church has a long history and is known for having good singing, a friendly atmosphere, and Bible-centered
preaching.  When you walk through the doors, you will receive a warm greeting because you are among friends. Our
greeters are prepared to assist you and to answer any question you might have. Also, our entire congregation wants to
make you feel right at home. In the worship service, the congregational singing is usually a familiar traditional hymn.
Pastor Johnson preaches from the King James Bible and  applies his message to our present day situations.

First Free Will Baptist Church is believed to have begun from a series of prayer meetings in the early 1900's.  In 1904, the
church was organized and named Atlantic Free Will Baptist Church with twenty charter members. In 1905 a church was
built at 1007 Fisher Street where the church was located for thirteen years. In 1918, the one room church building was
moved to 10th and Bridges Street.  The following year the church called Reverend A.H. Outlaw as their first pastor and
also changed their name from “Atlantic” to Morehead City Free Will Baptist Church.  In 1955 the church again changed its
name to First Free Will Baptist Church.

Missions has always been a burden of our people.  Our first foreign missionary was Mary Ellen Rice who served the Lord
in Brazil from 1962-1967.  Sister Molly Barker was the first Home Missionary from our church and went to work in
Nogales, Arizona, and presently serves as a foreign missionary in Uruguay.

That is part of our history. We want you to be part of our present and future. Come and help us write the next chapter! You
will be welcome!
